Westbound traffic on the Pennsylvania Turnpike was at a standstill Friday afternoon due to a tractor-trailer fire.

The truck was stopped along the shoulder near mile marker 53.6 in Plum, near the Saltsburg Road overpass between the Pittsburgh and Allegheny Valley exits.

According to the Turnpike Commission, the incident began just before 1 p.m. The commission reported the left westbound lane reopened at 2:28 p.m., but traffic back-ups will continue indefinitely.

Eastbound traffic was not directly impacted.

The truck, which was hauling a double-trailer of Mini Coopers, was from the Precision Motor Transport Group in Okemos, Mi. A message seeking comment left at the company was not immediately returned. The Mini Coopers in the trailer immediately behind the tractor also burned.
